Making judgements in s2 History

Was life in France fairer after the revolution? Could the revolutionaries have foreseen the execution of the king? Did all French society benefit from the revolution? Can this conflict be justified? Was the terror necessary?

These are just some of the questions S2 are debating today and for the next few weeks. They will link their learning on revolutions to the current crisis in Libya.

Here is Daria playing the river of death word game to recap key words from last term...

Musical history on last day of the term

S3 history and french combined classes this morning. We spent some time searching for historical references in songs including 'I wish I was a punk rocker,' 'The times they are a-changing,' 'The Ragged Old Flag,' and 'The Star-Spangled Banner.' Much discussion was provoked, particularly about revolutions, and how fast the music industry has changed.

We are all looking forward to our break- Happy Easter everyone!

The searchers... Core PE!

The wet weather kept us indoors during Core PE today, but we made good use of our time! First, some teacher input on digital literacy and the need to develop and improve our ability to find, select, understand, evaluate and analyse information using the internet. Then, we spent time finding facts, answering questions posed by pupils, comparing results and sharing techniques. A proftable and fun afternoon!

Experimenting with collaboration tools in S3 history

In order to effectively share ideas, S3 standard grade history pupils trialled a new site called linoit this morning. The site let's them share ideas, thoughts and questions relating to their key question on conflict, by posting sticky notes on a shared canvas.

Keynote presentations in S1

This morning saw the culmination of S1's hard work this term qhen each group presented their findings on their revolutions. In the course of this project they have used a number of apps on the ipads including Safari, StripDesign, Coursenotes, Keynote, Mail and Pages.

Ian and Kathryn told us about the American Revolution. It was an outstanding presentation- informative, clear, accurate and interesting.

Rebecca and Finlay gave us a very insightful presentation on the Jacobite Revolution. Great work!

Ellie and Declan will do theirs on Wednesday.
