The peacock project...

For her higher design unit, Beth in S4 is designing a peacock costume. Today she was experimenting with different ways to create a huge fan tail... I think it will be quite a challenging project but have no doubt that Beth will manage it!

First she tried attaching all the "feathers" to a cardboard fan but this was not strong enough or long enough:



Then she tried to create a template for a bigger fan...


The next trial worked better using a polystyrene ring which could give support at two different points:

S3 are making good progress in their design work using a variety of materials / techniques such as foam, card, fabric, fantasy film, hot glue, wire, tissue paper, paint, plastic, wood.....

Back to work

S4/5 artists made a good start back today and everyone was working hard.


Beth was researching her design project looking at resources, budget and technique:



Lara was working on her latest Japanese design - a lantern hat! She used a traditional ink painting set with some tissue paper to create the blossom tree:

Treasure Island

Despite the snow S4/5 performed managed to perform Treasure Island just before Christmas - here are some picture of the make up, costume and set:





BC at Bellahouston Ski Centre

For the next five weeks, all pupils in S1-3 will be learning to ski or snowboard for our next Broader Curriculum block. Current weather conditions mean these skills might come in handy sooner rather than later!!
