S1/2 simile poems in geography

Pupils in S1/2 are using their knowledge and understanding about floods to create simile poems describing a river in flood.

They will then use GarageBand to record their poem and create a soundtrack for it.

We started the lesson with a listen to Stanley Cook's poem on Clouds, to give us an idea of what we are aiming for.

Today, the class are in the ideas zone, working both individually and in groups to create a page of words, phrases and similes. Here are just a few examples:

Destruction
Bubbling
Like melting chocolate, murky and bubbling and brown.
Human cost
Dramatic
Bubble bath
Sweeping torrents
Tears
Waves
Crashing smashing lashing
Submerged
Sudden
Unexpected
