Beware the hurricane my son!

S1-2 are continuing their topic in extreme weather. Today, they learnt about hurricanes, about their physical and human impact.

After the success of their simile poems on floods-








The class are going to write poems on hurricanes. This time, they will use Lewis Carroll's 'Jabberwocky' as inspiration to create a poem using neologism, alliteration and onomatopoeia. Everyone in S1-2 knows what these terms mean- ask them!

The hills are alive with the Sound of Music!

Pupils enjoyed a trip to the Kings Theatre on Wednesday evening to see a production of "The Sound of Music". It was a super trip all round!

S1 tribal survivors

S1 are using a board game to find out about life for the desert tribes in 7thC Arabia.




Landing on an oasis means missing a go whilst the tribes camels, stock and people drink up!

Landing on a dry water hole gives you another go because the tribe wouldn't have stayed there long!

Other places to land in the game include the sandstorm, Mecca, flashflood and a fight with another tribe.

Iys a great way to learn!

Narnia make up!

Jacqueline and Alana, our make up artists for Narnia, were practising on the beavers and the White witch yesterday. They did a fantastic job!

Time travellers from P4/5 visit Social Studies

Using special effects music and lots if imagination, P4/5 have travelled back in time today! They investigated the past using the artefacts and sources in Miss R's room. We've looked at newspapers, coins, collectors books and souvenir handkerchiefs from the Queens coronation. We've examined medals and coins, ration cards and a 100 year old accordion. We've looked at Egyptian coins and calendars, tea caddys from World War II, goblets, newspapers from JFK's assassination, spinning tops, old photographs, books from 1900, and piggy banks.































































And we've tried on hats of all shapes and sizes and imagined who we might be from the past....

Creative Cakes!

Thanks to Ellie in S1 for making an absolutely beautiful cake for the S5 pupils who are leaving school. They loved it- well done, it was very professional and tasted great!
